31 Days of the Joys of Autumn - October Birthdays

Several friends and relatives celebrate birthdays in mid-October. 🎂

Saturday night (the14th) we celebrated our son-in-law, Patrick's, birthday. His parents came down and our daughter made a beautiful supper with homemade apple pie for dessert. We enjoyed a fire and roasted marshmallows before the rains came. 🔥

That same day was my best friend's birthday, but she and I weren't able to get together to celebrate until the next day. Sunday morning before church I baked a blueberry pie. In the evening Carla came over and we had pie, tea, and a good visit. 🍵
This is not my pie, but the one I made looked similar
to this one. It was gluten-free and THM friendly.

Today was grandson, T.J.'s, birthday. I try to get together with each one of the grandchildren for their birthdays and celebrate by taking them out to lunch at the restaurant of their choice. T.J. chose lunch at Tractor's in Lamar, followed by ice cream at Dairy Queen. We had a great time! 🍔🍟🍨

  1. Sounds like lots of fun birthday celebrations happening over there. We don't do as many big birthday celebrations any more but I used to call November the beginning of birthday season around here. Love that you are doing birthday pies instead of cakes :)

  2. I hear you, Jean! Birthday season starts here in December and rolls right on through the new calendar year through October. I think that November is the only month that is birthday- and anniversary-free in our family. The bad thing is, we have several birthdays that fall within a week or two of Christmas. Makes it rough on the givers and receivers in an already super busy season, but...oh well! And, yes, most of us prefer pie to cake any day. Have a great day! And thanks for taking the time to comment. :)
